Finishes #2

I saw so many pretty string quilts in the Stashbuster photo album, that I decided to make some, too.  I made one last year, a quilt-as-you-go.  Before starting this one, I cut up a 12.7 quart container of strings from 1.5 to 3 inches, and 'ugly' fabric into squares for the foundations.  I did purchase fabric to go in this--the yellow print of the centers and border.  It was a lot of fun to make, and I have another set of blocks ready to trim and quilt.  However, to my dismay, my little bin of strings has not been reduced appreciably!!!  So many more quilts in there, I'm thinking.  I also think I need to add some brighter colors, but will use more of what I have before cutting more strings.  This one was finished June 6, 2011 and donated to Child Protection Service.
And in true 'Stashbuster' style, I also used leftover batting, and stash fabric for the back.

This is what I started with; the red fabric is my 'ugly' foundation squares and the strings cut from a variety of scrap fabric.  I think some of the strings are only about an inch wide.  This is only a few of them as I have a container still full after two sets of blocks!
