Today I finished quilting my Hearts Aflutter tablerunner and made the binding. I dug out the fabric for DD's nursing cover up, at least for the top. I will need to get boning but think I have everything else to complete it. We did get a picture of Celeste's quilt before I sent it to her last night, but it isn't downloaded (or is that uploaded??) yet! I still have to take pictures of the Hearts and Home quilt I made for Ruth and the Stretched Stars "Hugs" quilt, so thought I would take those along with the table runner and put them all on at once.
I started making burp pads but the diapers I bought are so thin and flimsy (WalMart) so I folded them with batting in the middle to help absorb and I thought I would put flannel on the back side and across the ends - I read where flannel is not absorbent for this purpose and other blogs say it is--so I've decided just to use it on the back because that helps it cling to the shoulder! I have to wash the piece of flannel before I use it--I've already washed the diapers.
So far to date I've used: 2 yards of flannel for blankets, 5 yards total for crib sheets, 2 yards for Celeste's 'big 9 patch' (the Anita Grosman Solomon quilt), I used 1/8th yard for binding on the table runner and a piece that is approximately 2/3 yard for the back of the table runner. That's pretty good for this early in the year for me!
I bought the charm pack to make the table runner off Ebay a couple of weeks ago, so I turned that one over fast! I had to buy 3 altogether though to get the best price. I may make place mats and coasters out of one of the packs--the other --maybe donate it to guild. I don't really want to add to stash! Or maybe a quilt--there are 70 - 5" squares which should be enough to make a small quilt. I could add a couple cream color squares to go with it and have it 8 squares wide by 9 squares long. That could become an easy "Hugs" quilt to donate! Decisions! Decisions!
