Weather Note/Autumn Leaf Quilt

We are having beautiful weather, after record breaking heat last weekend!  It was 43 degrees this morning and 64 degrees right now with bright blue skies and a light breeze.  Wednesday it rained a little, the first we'd had in a very long time.  I think September was our driest ever!!!  We do have some pretty fall color this year, but not as it would be if the heat hadn't been so excessive and we'd had rain; still it's prettier than we expected it to be.  Fall colors are beautiful everywhere, including my neck of the woods!

Here are some photos of my Autumn Leaf Quilt inspired by our (usually) gorgeous fall color!

Autumn Leaf Quilt--designed, pieced and hand quilted by me!!!

Close up of my borders--the flying geese were individually
pieced and I find that as quick and accurate as any
other method when I pay attention to what I'm doing!!

This shows some of the print that I drew all my other colors from
It took several years to collect all the fabrics, and they came
from Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia

This is a close-up of how I hand quilted the blocks--all the sashing
had quilting, too.  On the blocks I just drew the lines freehand.
I used a gold colored cotton thread for quilting.
